Here I make annotations of quotes or parts of books, that I don´t want to forget.

ALAN MOORE
It was a tremendous risk, it was a fool´s leap, a shot in the dark.
But anything of value in our lives, will that be a career, a work of art, a relationship, will always start with such a leap and in order to be able to make it, you have to put aside the fear of failing, and the desire of succeeding.
You have to do these things completely purely without fear, without desire, because things that we do, without lust or result are the purest actions that we shall ever take.
- Alan Moore

SHINYA KIMURA

  • I did not work all by myself at the beginning, I used to work in a group.
  • I realized that what I really wanted, was not to instruct others, but to cast my ideas into shapes all by myself.
  • It was important fro me to complete the whole process all by myself.
  • There are two perspectives in customizing bikes, one is the technical aspects as a craftsmen, on the other hand artistic performance is also required.
  • Painters express their feelings in their paints and sculptors in their sculptures, although the bike is a functional machine, I want to express myself in the bike.
  • The bikes which I produce should be a part of myself, that´s why I have to improve my inner-self to produce better bikes

THE WAR OF ART

  • Notes from Steven Pressfield Book, The War of Art, published by Black Irish Entertainment LLC
  • ..if the Muse exists, she does not whisper to to the untalented… when inspiration touches talent, she gives birth to truth and beauty.
  • It´s not the writing part that´s hard. What´s hard is sitting down to write
  • Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the unlived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance.
  • A writer writes with his genius; and artist paints with hers; a writer writes with his genius; everyone who creates operates from this sacramental center. - - It is our soul´s sear, the vessel that holds our being-in-potential, our star´s beacon and Polaris.
  • Every sun cast a shadow, and genius´s shadow is Resistance.
  • Resistance is in other words, any act that rejects immediate gratification in favor of long-term growth, health, or integrity. Or, expressed another way, any act that derives from our higher nature instead of our lower.
  • Resistance is the enemy within, Resistance will tell you anything to keep you from doing your work, Resistance is always lying and always full of shit.
  • The more important a call or action os to our soul´s evolution, the more Resistance we will feel toward pursuing it, we feed it with power by our fear of it. Master that fear and we conquer Resistance.
  • Resistance obstructs movement only from a lower sphere to a higher.
  • The awakening artist must be ruthless, not only with herself but with others.
  • Never forget: This very moment, we can change our lives
  • Trouble is a faux from of fame, the working artist will not tolerate trouble in her life because she knows trouble prevents her from doing her work.
  • Depression and anxiety may be real. But they can also be Resistance
  • Instead of applying self-knowledge, self-discipline, delayed gratification, and hard work, we simply consume a product.
  • Many symptoms disappear as soon as you sit down and your work
  • What does Resistance feel like?
  • First, unhappiness. We feel like hell. A low-grade misery pervades everything. We´re bored, we´re restless. We can´t get no satisfaction. There´s guilt but we can´t put our finger on the source. We want to go back to bed; we want to get up and party. We feel unloved and unlovable. We´re disgusted. We hate our lives. We hate ourselves.
  • Unalleviated, Resistance mounts to a pitch that becomes unendurable. At this point vices kick in. Dope, adultery, web surfing.
  • Beyond that, Resistance becomes clinical. Depression. aggression, dysfunction…
  • What makes it tricky is that we live in a consumer culture that´s acutely aware of this unhappiness and has massed all its profit-seeking artillery to exploit it.
  • As artist and professionals it is our obligation to enact our own internal revolution, a private insurrection inside our own skulls. In this uprising we free ourselves from the tyranny of consumer culture.
  • We unplug ourselves from the grid by recognizing that we will never cure our restlessness by contributing our disposable income to the bottom line of Bullshit, Inc., but only by doing our work.
  • Our culture possesses affluence, stability, enough excess of resource to permit the luxury of self-examination.
  • The truly free individual is free only to the extent of his own self-mastery
  • When we see others beginning to live their authentic selves, it drives us crazy if we have not lived out our own.
  • The counterfeit innovator is wildly self-confident. The real one is scared to death. Self-doubt can be an ally.
  • The more scared we are of a work or calling, the more sure we can be that we have to do it.
  • Grandiose fantasies are symptom of Resistance. They´re the sign of an amateur. The professional has learned that success, like happiness, comes as a by-product of work. The professional concentrates on the work and allows rewards to come or not to come, whatever they like.
  • It´s one thing to lie to ourselves. It´s another thing to believe it.
  • By performing te mundane physical act of sitting down and starting to work, he set in motion a mysterious but infallible sequence of events that would produce inspiration, as surely as if the goddess had synchronized her watch with his.
  • He had to know how to be miserable.

1) We show up every day
2) We show up no matter what
3) We stay on the job all day
4) We are committed over the long haul
5) The stakes for us are high and real
6) We accept remuneration for our labor
7) We do over-identify with our jobs
8) We master the technique of our jobs
9) We have a sense of humor about our jobs
10) We receive praise or blame in the real world.

  • The Muse favours working stiffs. She hates prima donnas
  • The professional understands delayed gratification.
  • He undestands to be miserable, because these candy-asses don´t know how to be miserable, the artist committing himself to his calling has volunteered for hell wether he knows it or not.
  • He will not tolerate disorder. He eliminates chaos form his world in order to banish it from his mind.
  • The professional concentrates on technique. The professional masters how, and leaves what and why to the gods.
  • A PROFESSIONAL ACCEPTS NO EXCUSES.
  • He is prepared. each day, to confront his own self-sabotage, his aim is to take what the days gives him
  • A professional dedicates himself to mastering technique nor because he believes technique is a substitute for inspiration but because he wants to be in possession of the full arsenal of skills when inspiration does come.
  • Does not hesitate to ask for help, he seeks the most knowledgeable teacher and listens with both ears.
  • Maintain his sovereignty over the moment, the professional cannot allow the actions of others to define his reality.
  • Have a staff meeting with yourself Monday morning
  • There´s no mystery to turning pro. It´s a decision brought about by an act of will. We make up our mind to view ourselves as pros and we do it. Simple as that.
  • The work existed only as potential without a body, so to speak. It wasn´t music yet. You couldn´t play it. You couldn´t hear it. It needed someone. It needed a corporeal being, a human, to bring it into the being on this material plane

Dear Luis,
I am an agent for Chicara and here is his message for you.

Dear Luis,
Regarding materials, I use steel product, which is normally used by motorbike manufacturers, for a frame and swing arms. (as for details of
these steel products, you had better research by yourself because knowing specific characteristics of metals is a part of the creation of
motorcycles!)
Approx. ratio of the alloy is: 90% iron, 5% alluminum (duralumin), 5% stainless steel and 5% brass. The gold part in the picture you have
attached was made of duralumin and is gold plated.
As I have experienced, even if you research in depth, you would not know without experimenting with your hands. If your part leaks, you
should make improvements to it. If the part bents, you should come up new ideas to avoid bending. If it comes off, you should make it stay in
place. It's this simple.
If you would like to make these numerous experiments which look waste of time, you reach your goal. I am learning new things everyday. I
am experience pile of errors everyday.
I have made no single motorcycle without experiencing troubles.
I do not know if my advice works for you. Please send me pictures of your works when completed. I look forward to seeing them!
Chicara

Best regards,
Miyako for Chicara Nagata

There are many ways a man can express himself
But there are not many things I can do
I have found something on which I will pour my life
I do not know if I will make it to the end of the road
So all I can do is ride toward that place
A man should take pride in his work
And my work gives me confidence
Having the courage to stand up and face my dream is the
only way to capture it

NICK CAVE

  • All of our days are numbered, we can not afford to be idle.
  • To act on a bad idea is better than to not act at all... because the worth of the idea never becomes apparent until you do it. Sometimes this idea can be the smallest thing in the world, a little flame that you hunch over and cup with your hand and pray will not be extinguished by all the storm that howls about it. If you can hold on to tha flame, great things can be constructed around it, that are massive and powerful and world-changing.
  • All held up by the tiniest ideas.
  • In the end, I´m not interested in that which I fully understand.
  • The words I have written over the years are just a veneer.
  • There are truths that lie beneath the surface of the words...truths that rise up without warning, like the humos of a sea monster and then disappear.
  • What performance and song is to me is a way to tempt the monster to the surface, to create a space, where the creature can break through what is real and what is known to us.
  • This shimmering space, where imagination and reality intersects... this is where all love and tears and joy exist. This is the place. This is where we live.
